Krishna and Asha Devi

 In Blog, Volunteers & Team

Krishna, a young Indian street dog, has turned an elderly woman named Asha Devi into an exceptional animal protector. This is Krishna’s 2nd time at Animal Aid. Almost 2 years ago we rescued Krishna when he had been hit by a car and was in a coma. That’s when Asha Devi turned up at the shelter with a stack of chapattis and a canister of milk. Her family doesn’t approve of her affection for stray dogs, and so she came to the shelter without telling them. She visited Krishna almost every day until he had recovered and was ready to be released. Krishna is back again (this time because of a skin infection) and so is Asha Devi. She says that her family disdainfully asks her why she is so fond of these street animals, to which she replies, “I don’t know why, but I know that I am!”
