Dog who had wire cutting into his stomach for months recovers

 In Blog, Hurt to Healed

We were called to rescue a street dog who was nearly cut in two by a wire embedded in his flesh. The wire was tied so tight, and had been tied so long (possibly months), that in places muscle had even grown over the wire. The pain –intense and continuous–might have been enough to kill any dog. But not Ben. This incredible boy might just be one of the strongest we’ve ever met. After we removed the wire and began his treatment for the pain and infection much of his suffering was immediately relieved, but he still had a long healing process ahead. For many days his movement was restricted so that he could heal, but it’s as if he held on to a very specific dream: he simply HAD to play again. He would wait as long as it took, but he had to play. And once freed of his Elizabeth collar (worn to prevent him from scratching at the wound) and given free range among the other dogs, Ben burst onto the scene with so much joy in life that we all just stood back in wonder. We will never know how the wire got tied around his waist, maybe he got caught in a fence or possibly it was an act of unspeakable cruelty that nearly sliced his body in two. But we will never forget the glory of fun for someone deprived of it so very long. We thank you deeply for your donations which turned what would have been a tragic death into a story brimming with happiness.

Please donate, for the angels who think they might never play again.

Just read this terrible news about Ben but fortunately as in many cases AAU was/is there to help these poor souls to have a second chance to live a happy. Will definitely donate to Ben for his remarkable recovery and a job well done by AAU time and time again.

OMG I can’t even imagine the pain and suffering that the beautiful Ben must have been in for many weeks. I think his injury was an act of despicable evil by a human being. There can be no other explanation for that horrific injury. He is for sure a very special soul to have clung onto life despite the agony hoping beyond hope that some would come to his rescue. Then you found him and gave him the life he so wanted; to run and play with the rest of the Dog’s. The love and care you gave Ben was amazing and if it wasn’t for amazing people like you Dog’s like Ben would die a terrible death alone, never having felt love. I think you are wonderful people. God bless you all. I will donate again.
